A newspaper clipping of the Pepperoni Pizza in Midvale, UT, on the North side of Center ST, just east of State ST. Melissa Smith was abducted by Ted Bundy after leaving this parlor shortly after 10pm 10-18-74. Ted loved pizza and it would not be surprising if he had noticed her before. When he was picked up in Granger, UT by UHP officer Robert Hayward, he had just followed 2 sisters home that lived behind Robert from the Pizza House where they worked. Robert knew where they worked as they lived right behind him and he was friends with their father. Bad choice of neighborhood for Ted as this would be his undoing. Ted basically spent time wherever there were pretty girls. The idea that he only went after “one offs” doesnt make sense to m, at least in UT arena. Nancy Wilcox worked at the Highland Drive-In movie theater and told her mother about an older guy fitting his description on more than one occasion. He had been stalking her. Laura Aime’s friends supposedly saw him multiple times at the Notty Pine and Brown’s Cafe in American Fork before her disappearance. Debbie Kent may have been a frustration abduction, as Carol DaRonch got away the same evening, but I think that it is likely that he at least knew who she was. This is of course unproven, but research and gut instinct gives one that feeling with the details of Carol’s case. Anyway, what the hell, its an interesting picture!
